Shane Hengst

Shane Hengst managed the UNSW Physics Outreach unit and coordinated the UNSW Science Engagement & Outreach network to design and deliver events targeting primary and secondary school students across Sydney metro and regional areas. Additionally, Shane is a co-producer for STEMpunk, which creates podcasts and holds live interactive events.

Shane Hengst strives to create innovative and effective ways of engaging the public with science in conjunction with my continued passion for astronomical research.

He has extensive experience managing science events for schools and the community, designing & delivering scientific workshops and teaching mathematics & science to secondary and tertiary students.

Shane’s ultimate goal is to manage a Science Outreach Facility placed in a university setting. This facility will have a planetarium experience as its prime focus in order to entertain, educate, and experiment.
